I bet you, like many eBayer's don't realise the importance of item pricing and some don't even recognise the need for pricing at all, with eBay being an auction site they think why bother, but as we all know an eBay auction is nothing like any ordinary offline auction, where they maybe 20/30 people in a room waving their hand in the air indicating their bid. So in fact one should spend a little time and effort on setting the right price for any item you may have for sale. As you may already know there are three prices of which you can set when listing and item for eBay selling, these are as follows, the [buy it now], the [reserve] and the [starting price].
But many of these eBay entrepreneurs are leaping in with both feet without thinking, this of course is dangerous in any kind of business venture, so the sane thing to do if you want to make money on eBay is to take a step back and slow down a little. In fact the best thing to do would be stop and think very carefully about your strategy and how you are going to set up and run you new eBay money making Internet business, the worst thing you could do is rush in blindfolded. Take your time to get it right.
Did you know that eBay has well over 114 million members word wide? Just think about that huge number for a while, that's a phenomenal amount of eBayer's don't you think? And when you have your eBay money making business up and running you will instantly have 114 million customers.
Your reserve price should be the very minimum you will accept for your item if sold otherwise you'll be out of pocket, common sense really but I thought I better point it out anyway. If the item does not reach your reserve price you will not be forced to sell at a below reserve price unless of course you forget to set one. So always check your listing before placing it. Basically on eBay if you set a reserve price for 0 and the final bid is you are under no obligation to sell your item. And at the end of the auction you should not receive any negative feedback or bad mouthing of any sort. As I said for eBay selling set your price to the absolute minimum where if you do have to sell your item at that price you are not out of pocket, so keep in mind what you paid for it and what you think or know it is worth.
You could call this your consumer research, in effect your basically studying eBay from the buyer's point of view, although you probably wont see it your eBay consumer research should almost certainly make you a far better seller than you would be without the buying experience. Always pay close attention the the customer service you receive as a buyer, take notes of anything you as a seller could improve upon. Remember you may be trying to sell the same thing as ten other eBay Internet marketers, if you customer service offers something more than your competitors you will win the sale.
Take part in highly active auctions bear in mind which items are hot and which are not, also you should interact with sellers to see how they respond to you and again note anything you may be able to improve upon. Your eBay money making business is just like any other business it revolves around supply and demand you need to know if there's a market for your product to be successful, I f you buy something with the hope of selling it on and there is no market for that something then you may be stuck with it and out of pocket. There are many many different item for sale on eBay and many of them sell very well, on the other hand there is also a lot of junk that people simply won't sell and the people selling it will do there very best to palm it off on an eBay money making novice.
So if you can keep your shipping cost down or better still offer free shipping on your eBay selling item you will have more eBayer's bidding on your eBay auction.
If you can offer free shipping make sure you highlight the fact in your listing so potential buyer's can see that it's free. One thing not to forget when pricing your ebay auction items is the actual value of the item. In some markets your ebay selling item may sell for quite a high price. But your selling yours on eBay, and you must not forget this as eBayer's are looking for bargains. so research your similar items on eBay and see what they're selling for, this way you can set your price accordingly. If you are selling an antique or a collectible item if I were you I would have it professionally valued before even thinking about listing it for eBay selling
