I enjoyed looking at the various options, however some “home Business’” were really not logical. However even, this book does stimulate the mind, and gets you thinking about what talents you have that you could put to use as a home business.

A lot of people hate the hassle of going to work everyday. If they had a chance they would work at home.
We used to refer to this dream as the 5B business plan–building birdhouses in the basement for big bucks. In this plan, there are no employees, the birdhouses sell for a lot of money, everyone wants one, and they sell themselves by word of mouth.
Unfortunately, that kind of business is rare. Finding one is like winning the lottery, and it has the same odds. Unfortunately, as soon as someone comes up with a winning 5B business, a 1000 others copy it, and it turns into the 3B business–building birdhouses in the basement less the other two b’s.
Most of the businesses described in the book won’t make as much money as projected and will cost a lot more, both in time and in dollars, to start up than is estimated. In my experience, if 20 people start the same home business, only 1 of them will earn the amount of money suggested by the author. The other 19 won’t.
When my wife was pregnant with our first child, she decided she wanted to be home for part of the pregnancy and for first two or three years after birth, so we set up a home business. First, I had been managing companies for 15 years before this, and my wife had a variety of specialized legal skills. So I knew how to start and market a business, and she had skills that were marketable.
Within a few weeks we were able to secure sufficient clients for her to earn as much at home as she had earned working full time for other people, and that left her with enough time to tend to our child.
So yes, it’s possible to work at home, but we were able to afford the equipment and setup costs, which were substantial (low five figures), and I knew a whole lot about marketing her skill set.
That’s a totally different situation than 98% of the ideas described in the book. For example, if you’re creative, you can start a gift basket business. Wow! I know lots of people who describe themselves as creative. Their mothers told them their projects were wonderful! Oh boy!
Let’s sell Mom’s spaghetti sauce. After all, it’s the best spaghetti sauce we ever had. Once people taste it, it will sell itself!
The business idea or the product is only 5% of the value of the business. The rest is in the management of the business. Things like marketing, advertising, product placement, production, cost control, and other management issues account for 95% of the success of a business. The problem is that most of the people who want to have a home business have none of those skills.
There are a few business suggestions in the book similar to the one my wife and I implemented such as independent consulting, engineering and legal services, but once again that old problem of selling the service gets in the way, not to mention having the skill set and education to do the job.
If you just need 200 ideas to spur your thinking, and you don’t really more details than generalities, then this book might be a 5 star book for you.

The author mentions many different alternatives for supplementing
income. These alternatives include review of utility bills for
large entities. The rendering of expert advice is another potential
business. The author mentions concert promotion, consulting
engineering, eBook Publishing, freelance writing, graphic design,
rare book dealerships and seminar services. This acquisition would
help anyone seeking to supplement their current income. It could
be useful for retirees and others on a fixed income.

I loved this book, granted you could really think of many of these ideas yourself, but truly not everyone is savvy on the internet to research. Finding a home based business is a tough task, you may want to read and re-read many of the ideas that spark an interest with you! If you do not like dogs, don’t be a pet sitter. Take notes at every opportunity.
